At today's session, the Sibenik City Council adopted the Decision on the adoption of the "Batižele" development project.
The decision includes the division of the company TEF d.d., Tvornica elektroda i ferroalegura Šibenik and the increase of the share capital by converting state and city claims into shares in the company created in the division process with the establishment of TEF d.d.
An integral part of the Decision is also the proposal of the development project 'Batižele', dated June 8, 2018, which the City Council sends to the Government of the Republic of Croatia for adoption.
"We broke the multi-year policy of running away from problems, tackled the TEF and after five years of hard work we have real results. With the decision to adopt the "Batižele" project, we will give new wind to the further growth and development of Šibenik", said Mayor Burić and explained the provisions of the decision: "The "Batižele" project includes 217 thousand m2 of space that is free of debts and problems. All claims of the state and the City will be converted into shares in the new company. The state will participate in its ownership with one third, and the City with two thirds."
The issue of TEF land has been a long-standing problem of all the city authorities in Šibenik, because it is an area of 28 hectares located in the center of Šibenik, only 500 meters away as the crow flies from the city center and the Cathedral of St. Jacob. According to the GUP of the City of Šibenik, the area of the former factory is planned to be converted into a mixed use, where investors would build a new settlement, residential-business, accommodation, cultural and educational capacity on land worth HRK 350 million, and new hospitality and tourism capacities with two thousand beds. The traffic connection and infrastructural equipment of this area enables the development and construction of high-quality hotel, sports and nautical facilities, due to which it is expected that TEF will once again be the bearer of the entrepreneurial and tourist potential of the City of Šibenik.
