The economy of the city of Šibenik is based on production, trade and tourism. Production with an annual income of € 260 million is the most important economic sector, followed by trade with € 75 million of revenue.
Šibenik has a long industrial history of aluminum production and processing, steel construction and shipbuilding.
Aluminum production is the most important export activity with a tradition dating back to 1937. The largest exporter of aluminum is Impol TLM.
In addition to the production of aluminum, important industries are shipbuilding and service of yachts and small ships up to 40 meters, and the manufacture and installation of steel structures.
In recent years, the fast-growing sectors are tourism and energy, with particular investment in hotels and renewable energy sources such as wind farms.
