Signed social contract of Batižele d.o.o.

Today in Šibenik, the social contract of the trading company Batižele d.o.o. was signed. between the City of Šibenik, the Republic of Croatia, the Fund for Environmental Protection and Croatian Waters, thus creating the conditions for recapitalization of the company and the future realization of the project on the land of the former TEF.

The share capital of BATIŽELE d.o.o., ŠIBENIK is increased from HRK 148,500,000.00 to HRK 296,615,600.00.

In the capital of the company, the City of Šibenik has HRK 201,540,600.00 (67.94%), the Republic of Croatia HRK 67,154,500.00 (22.64%), the Environmental Protection Fund HRK 25,852,700.00 (8.72%) and Croatian Water HRK 2,067,800.00 (0.70%).

"The realization of the Batižela project is of exceptional importance for the development of Šibenik, and therefore this project is supported by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Management Board of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. When I became the head of the Fund two months ago, I immediately started negotiations with Mayor Burić and his colleagues regarding the signing of the social contract, and we managed to resolve everything in a relatively short period of time. Although there were some media comments, I want to emphasize that the Fund never obstructed the Batižela project. On the contrary, without financial assistance, i.e. loans worth a total of HRK 26 million, which the Fund gave to TEF in order to rehabilitate the contaminated soil, it is questionable whether this project would have taken place at all. Therefore, in the spirit of good long-term cooperation, we will continue to undertake all activities to help the city government realize the full development potential of Batižela, because this area is extremely important for the further development of Šibenik, which has truly become a cultural and touristic pearl of the Mediterranean," he said. on this occasion, the director of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Siniša Kukić.

Mayor Željko Burić thanked the Director of the Fund for his cooperation and engagement in concluding the social contract.

"Now we have to prepare the conditions for announcing an international public tender, which will be carried out in accordance with the Law on the Management of State Property. "The preparation and implementation of the international public tender will be carried out by a Commission made up of 5 members, three members of which will be nominated by the City of Šibenik, and two members by the Ministry of State Property," said Mayor Željko Burić.

The issue of TEF land has been a long-standing problem of all city authorities in Šibenik, and the Batižele project includes over 200,000 square meters that have been freed from all debts, while the claims of the state have been converted into shares. Mixed use is planned on the site of the former factory, where investors would build a new settlement, residential-business, accommodation, cultural and educational capacity, and new catering-tourism capacities with two thousand beds are also planned.
