The City Council unanimously adopted the Decision on the development strategy of the Batižele project

The 24th thematic session of the Šibenik City Council was held today in the premises of the Center for New Technologies and Entrepreneurship "Trokut".

The city councilors unanimously adopted the Decision on accepting the documents of the Batižela development project, which consists of: Development strategy - Urban regeneration of an abandoned industrial zone in Šibenik and Action plan and implementation priorities - Urban regeneration of an abandoned industrial zone in Šibenik.

The aforementioned documents suggest the activation of the assets of Batižele d.o.o. with the aim of the economic development of Šibenik, and they were created by the company Ove Arup & Partners International Ltd., chosen on the basis of a public tender conducted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"Today's session is a new phase in the development of the Batižele project. It is a process we have been working on every day since 2013. We have successfully resolved the long-standing property-legal relations and financial problems that have been piling up at the location of the former TEF factory, so today I am proud and excited that we are entering a new phase with the ultimate goal of activating this extremely valuable space," said Mayor Željko Burić on this occasion. and thanked the city councilors for their constructiveness and cooperation.

The development strategy and the Action Plan were presented by Flavio Tejada and Susana Isabel from the Arup company, who then answered the questions of the interested councillors. The head of the EBRD for Croatia, Victoria Zinchuk, also addressed the councilors, who praised the excellent cooperation with the City of Šibenik and the active discussion at today's session.

"I look forward to continued cooperation on this project, which is in a very advanced stage. This is not the end of the story, but the beginning of the journey, and Šibenik is already on the map of Croatia as an excellent destination for life," said Zinchuk.

The thematic session was also attended by EBRD's Director of Real Estate and Tourism Vlaho Kojaković and Vedrana Likan in front of Colliers International, a partner in the project.
