At its 110th session held today, the Government of the Republic of Croatia passed the Decision on the acceptance of the Development Project "Batižele" as proposed by the City Council of the City of Šibenik in June 2018.

"I am proud of the fact that our hard work over the past five years to solve the legal-property-financial problems we encountered around the TEF has paid off. I would like to thank the Minister of State Property, Goran Marić, for his involvement in the solution of this extremely important project for the development of the city of Šibenik. It is one of the most attractive plots of land on the Adriatic, the putting into operation of which will mark the new future of the city of Šibenik and its citizens. The city of Šibenik now has extremely dynamic tasks ahead of it to implement the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Decision of the City Council," said Mayor Željko Burić.

The decision to accept the Development Project "Batižele" implies a division with the establishment of the company TEF - Tvornica electora i ferroalegura d.d. Šibenik and increasing the share capital by converting state and city claims into shares in the new company.

The issue of TEF land has been a long-standing problem of all the city authorities in Šibenik, because it is a 28-hectare area located in the center of Šibenik, only 500 meters away as the crow flies from the city center and the Cathedral of St. Jacob. According to the GUP of the City of Šibenik, the area of ​​the former factory is planned to be converted into a mixed use, where investors would build a new settlement, residential-business, accommodation, cultural and educational capacity on land worth HRK 350 million, and new hospitality and tourism capacities with two thousand beds. The traffic connection and infrastructural equipment of this area enables the development and construction of high-quality hotel, sports and nautical facilities, due to which it is expected that TEF will once again be the bearer of the entrepreneurial and tourist potential of the City of Šibenik.
